Before packing your bags, it’s important to check your airline’s rules for hand and check-in baggage. If you’re travelling with special baggage, like skiing equipment, a pet or a pram, it must be checked in as odd-sized baggage.
Important note: at Nuuk Airport, you may no longer bring weapons or liquids in containers larger than 100 ml in your hand baggage. The same rules apply in Kangerlussuaq.
You can read more on the Baggage and Security web pages.
You’re welcome to bring liquids in your hand baggage, as long as they are in containers of no more than 100 ml. It’s important to pack all your liquids together in a single 1 litre resealable plastic bag so you’re ready for your journey before you get to the airport. Only one liquids bag is permitted per passenger.
If you’re travelling on a domestic flight, the liquids rules do not apply – and you may therefore bring a filled water bottle in your hand baggage. However, if you have a connecting flight in Nuuk, you are not permitted to bring a filled water bottle, because you must pass through security before your connecting flight. You can read more on the Security web page.
We recommended that you check in online from home if your airline permits this. This will speed up your passage through the airport to the security check. At Nuuk Airport you can use a self-service check-in machine to check in.
You can read more on the Check-in web page.
When travelling internationally, you must pass through airport security. It is a good idea to have your boarding pass ready before you get to the checkpoint. For as smooth a process as possible, please take care to pack your liquids, electronics, medicines and baby food so they are easily accessible in your baggage if needed. If you’re travelling from Nuuk, you don’t need to remove anything from your hand baggage before it is screened.

We recommend that you always get to the airport early – even if you’ve checked in from home. If you’re travelling from Nuuk, you should be at the airport at least 2 hours before your departure time. If you’re flying from one of our other airports or heliports, you should be there 1 hour before departure.
Checking in is the first step on your journey through the airport. At our airports, you can check in from home or at the check-in desk on your day of departure.
