Frequently asked questions

How do I get to and from the airport?

Cities like Nuuk, Ilulissat and Sisimiut have both taxi and bus services. In most smaller towns and settlements, there is also some form of public transport available. As an alternative, transport to and from the airport can be arranged in advance via your tour operator or hotel.

How do check-in and security check work?

You must check in via your airline or tour operator. Usually check-in is done online via your airline’s website or app – or at the check-in desk at the airport.

Once you’ve checked in, you must pass through the security check – for all flights, both domestic and international. We recommend that you arrive at the airport two hours prior to departure to ensure you have plenty of time to check-in and go through security.

What are the rules for hand and check-in baggage/luggage?

The airlines set the rules for what and how much baggage you may bring. The weight and size rules for hand and check-in baggage may therefore vary. Please contact your airline or tour operator for more information about baggage allowances.

Where can I see my gate and boarding time?

Live departure information is displayed on information screens in the large airports in Greenland. You can also find information about arrivals and departures on the front page of this website or via your airline/tour operator’s website or app.

Where can I smoke?

Smoking is prohibited at all the airports, with very few exceptions. In Kangerlussuaq, smoking is permitted in an outdoor area after check-in. In the other airports, smoking is permitted outside the airport terminal. Please keep your distance from the entrances so the smoke does not bother others. The same rules apply to e-cigarettes as to ordinary cigarettes.
